Dussehra is one of the most important festivals in Hindu tradition. It is an auspicious occasion and it signifies the victory of good over evil. Dussehra, also called Dasara or Vijayadashami, in Hinduism, holiday marking the triumph of Rama, an avatar of Vishnu, over the 10-headed demon king Ravana, who abducted Rama's wife, Sita. The word 'Dussehra' is made up of two Hindi words 'dus' and 'hara', where “dus” means ten and 'hara' is annihilated. Therefore, if these two words are combined, 'Dussehra' stands for the day when the ten evil faces (faced by Ravana) were destroyed by Lord Rama. The Hindu festival of Navratri is an auspicious nine-day-long celebration that honours Maa Durga for killing the demon, Mahishasura. Celebrated for nine days, the festival is dedicated to the nine forms (avatars) of Goddess Durga.
Wish you happy dussehra!!
