Simran and Jayaram’s Viral Pooja Photos Spark Marriage Buzz: Here’s What Really Happened
Photos of veteran actors Simran and Jayaram have recently created a stir on social media, with some viewers wondering whether the two stars had secretly tied the knot. The images, which show the actors participating in traditional-looking rituals and appearing together in a celebratory setting, quickly attracted attention and led to speculation about their personal lives.
However, the pictures have nothing to do with a real-life marriage. They were taken during the traditional pooja ceremony marking the beginning of their upcoming Tamil film. The event was held in Chennai on August 23, bringing together the cast and crew ahead of the project’s production.
The confusion appears to have been fueled by the appearance of the photographs. Simran and Jayaram were seen together during the ceremony, and certain moments from the event were interpreted by social media users as wedding-related. The traditional setting and their close appearance in the pictures made the speculation spread rapidly.
The reality is quite different. The two actors are coming together professionally for a new romantic comedy, and their pairing is attracting interest because they have previously shared screen space but have never before appeared as the central romantic leads of a film.
Their earlier collaboration came in Kamal Haasan’s 2002 film Panchathanthiram. More than two decades later, the actors are returning to the screen together in a project that places them at the heart of the story.
The upcoming movie is being directed by SY Gauthamraj, who previously helmed films including Raatchasi and Kazhuvethi Moorkan. The makers have not yet announced the title of the new project, but it has been described as a romantic comedy with an unusual generational angle.
According to details released about the film, the story will explore interactions between members of the Gen Z generation and people belonging to the 1990s generation. The situations created by these contrasting generations are expected to provide the film with its humour, relationship drama and emotional moments.
Simran and Jayaram will headline the film, while Vaazhai actor Ponvel, Devika Sathish and Bhagavathi Perumal are also part of the cast. The project is being produced by K Vijay Pandi of White Carpet Films and Shanjan G of Redacted Studios, with Arya’s The Show People presenting the movie.
The technical team includes cinematographer Deepak, music composer Achu Rajamani, editor Arul E Siddharth and art director Mahendran. With the pooja ceremony now completed, the film is moving into its production phase.
For Simran, the project adds another interesting chapter to her continuing career across different generations of Tamil cinema. The actress has remained active in films after making her mark as one of the prominent stars of the 1990s and early 2000s. Her recent work includes Tourist Family, while she also has other projects lined up.
Jayaram, meanwhile, continues to work across Malayalam and Tamil cinema. His 2026 slate has already included multiple releases, and the new Simran project gives audiences an opportunity to see him in a romantic-comedy setting alongside a familiar former co-star.
The viral photographs therefore represent a film-related celebration rather than a personal milestone for the actors. While social media speculation turned the traditional ceremony into a supposed wedding story, the actual reason for the gathering was the launch of their new movie.
The unusual combination of familiar faces, a traditional pooja ceremony and wedding-like visuals helped the pictures gain traction online. But for fans who were wondering whether Simran and Jayaram had actually married, there is no such development. The two stars are simply preparing to reunite on screen, this time as the lead pair of an upcoming romantic comedy.
