Huawei Watch D3 and FreeBuds Neo Teased Ahead of September 2 Global Launch

Huawei is preparing to expand its global wearable and audio portfolio with two new products that are set to make their official debut in Munich on September 2. The company has started teasing the Huawei Watch D3 smartwatch and the new FreeBuds Neo wireless earbuds, offering an early glimpse at their designs before the launch.

The upcoming event is expected to put particular attention on Huawei's latest health-focused smartwatch. The Watch D3 will succeed the Watch D2 and appears to bring several physical changes aimed at making the device more comfortable and practical for regular use. Huawei has also shown the FreeBuds Neo in multiple colour options, although most specifications remain undisclosed for now.

Watch D3 focuses on a slimmer design

The Watch D3 continues Huawei's distinctive Watch D line, which differs from the company's more fitness-oriented GT models by concentrating heavily on health monitoring.

One of the most notable changes visible in Huawei's teaser is the smartwatch's slimmer appearance. The company has reduced the size of the surrounding bezels, allowing the display area to look larger without requiring a substantial increase in the overall watch footprint.

Huawei is also introducing new colour choices for the Watch D3. Alongside the visual redesign, the company is highlighting softer wristbands compared with the previous-generation Watch D2. This suggests that comfort is becoming an important part of the D-series' evolution, particularly because the watch is designed to be worn for health measurements as well as everyday activities.

The Watch D2's unusual construction has been closely associated with its blood-pressure monitoring capabilities. It uses an inflatable airbag integrated into its wrist strap to take blood-pressure readings under appropriate conditions. The previous model also supported scheduled monitoring over extended periods, making the D series quite different from conventional smartwatches.

Huawei has not yet revealed the complete hardware and software specifications of the Watch D3. More information is expected during the Munich event on September 2.

What the Watch D2 already offered

The previous-generation Watch D2 provides useful context for understanding the direction Huawei is taking with the new model.

The Watch D2 featured a 1.82-inch AMOLED display and incorporated several health-related tools beyond blood-pressure monitoring. These included ECG capabilities, pulse-wave analysis for identifying possible irregularities, sleep tracking, stress monitoring and blood-oxygen measurements.

Huawei also included a feature called Health Glance, which could bring together several health indicators through a single interaction. The watch supported around 80 workout modes and was designed to combine conventional smartwatch functions with more specialized health-monitoring hardware.

Battery life on the Watch D2 was rated at up to six days under typical usage, although continuous blood-pressure monitoring could significantly reduce that figure. The watch itself weighed about 40 grams without its strap.

It remains to be seen how much of this functionality will carry over to the Watch D3 and whether Huawei will introduce additional health features.

FreeBuds Neo joins the launch lineup

Huawei's September event will not be limited to smartwatches. The company has also teased a new pair of wireless earbuds called the FreeBuds Neo.

The early teaser shows the earbuds in several colour variants, indicating that Huawei is positioning them as a consumer audio product with a focus on design as well as functionality.

At this stage, Huawei has not disclosed the complete specifications of the FreeBuds Neo. Details such as the audio hardware, battery capacity, active noise cancellation capabilities, connectivity features and pricing are therefore still unknown.

The lack of confirmed specifications means the September 2 presentation will be particularly important for buyers who want to understand where the FreeBuds Neo will sit within Huawei's broader FreeBuds lineup.

Munich event could be a major Huawei showcase

The Watch D3 and FreeBuds Neo are expected to be part of a broader global product presentation in Munich. Huawei is also expected to showcase other devices during the event, including products from its Watch GT and Watch series.

For Huawei, the Watch D3 is arguably the more distinctive announcement because the D-series has carved out a specialized position by combining smartwatch functions with blood-pressure monitoring hardware.

The design changes teased so far suggest that Huawei is attempting to make this concept more approachable for everyday users. A slimmer body, thinner bezels and softer straps could make a meaningful difference for people who wear the watch for long periods.

However, the most important questions remain unanswered. Huawei has yet to provide the full specifications, feature list and pricing for the Watch D3 and FreeBuds Neo. Those details should become clearer when the company officially unveils the products in Munich on September 2.

Until then, the teasers provide an early indication of Huawei's strategy: refine the physical design of its specialized health smartwatch while expanding its wireless-audio lineup with a new pair of earbuds for global consumers.
