Matilu is the traditional ear chain that finalises the perfect look of the bride in South India. It draws attention to her head, which is held high beaming with pride and self-esteem. The same ear chain is referred to as “Matti” in Malayalam. This ornament is also worn by the dancers performing Kuchipudi or Bharatanatyam. It is attached to the earring, covering the ear and is fixed to the hair. This hair accessory also supports the heavy jhumkaa and imparts a complete look to the bride.
