Telangana Crime Case Takes Another Turn: YouTuber’s Murder Accused Killed in Nizamabad
Nizamabad, Telangana: A murder case that had already drawn attention in Telangana has taken another dramatic turn after the man accused in the killing of his wife was himself murdered in broad daylight in Nizamabad.
Chittari Haribabu, 26, was attacked near Rajarajendra Crossroads on Thursday, September 17, while he was reportedly at a roadside food stall. Police said a group arrived in a car and one of the attackers allegedly assaulted him with a sharp weapon before the group fled.
Haribabu died at the scene. Police have registered a murder case and are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify those responsible.
Who Was Haribabu?
Haribabu had been arrested earlier this year in connection with the death of his wife, Gandham Vaishnavi, a young YouTuber from Telangana.
Vaishnavi reportedly ran the YouTube channel “Vaishu Amma” and had built a sizeable online following. She was found dead at her home in Madhapur village of Korutla mandal in Jagtial district in March 2026.
At the time of her death, she was reportedly four months pregnant.
Her family had alleged that she faced harassment related to dowry. Police subsequently arrested Haribabu in connection with the murder case. His mother and two brothers were also booked in the related investigation over alleged dowry harassment.
What Happened in Nizamabad?
The latest incident occurred around the busy Rajarajendra area of Nizamabad.
According to preliminary police information reported by multiple outlets, Haribabu was approached by men who arrived in a car. One attacker allegedly got out of the vehicle and attacked him before returning to the car.
Police are now examining CCTV recordings from the area to establish exactly what happened and identify the people involved.
The body was shifted to Government General Hospital, Nizamabad, for postmortem examination.
The Important Question: Was the Killing Linked to Vaishnavi's Death?
This is one of the major questions investigators are now examining.
Police have not officially established the motive for Haribabu's killing. Reports indicate that investigators are looking at the possibility of a connection with the earlier murder case, while also examining other possible motives, including previous enmity.
Therefore, any conclusion about who ordered or carried out the attack would be premature at this stage.
Brother-in-Law's Claim Adds Another Layer
The investigation took another turn after a video surfaced on social media in which Vaishnavi's brother, Santhosh, reportedly claimed responsibility for Haribabu's killing.
According to The New Indian Express, Santhosh said in the video that he had been waiting for justice following his sister's death and indicated that he intended to surrender to police. Police were also investigating possible involvement of members of Vaishnavi's family.
Such a video, however, is not by itself a final determination of criminal responsibility. The police investigation and subsequent legal proceedings will establish what happened and who can be held accountable.
A Case That Has Now Developed Two Murder Investigations
The sequence of events has effectively created two connected investigations:
March 2026: Vaishnavi was found dead at her residence in Jagtial district.
Following the murder: Haribabu was arrested and became an accused in the case.
July 2026: Reports said Haribabu was released on bail.
September 17, 2026: Haribabu was attacked and killed in Nizamabad.
September 18, 2026: Police continued investigating the Nizamabad killing while examining whether it was connected to the earlier case.
Why the Investigation Matters
The latest killing does not bring the earlier case to an end. Instead, investigators now have to establish the circumstances surrounding Haribabu's death while continuing to determine the facts of Vaishnavi's murder.
The key issues include identifying the attackers, establishing the motive, determining whether the two incidents are connected and verifying the claims that have emerged through social media.
For now, police investigations remain underway, and several aspects of the case have yet to be conclusively established.
Bottom Line
The Nizamabad killing has transformed an already serious Telangana murder case into a more complex investigation involving two deaths.
While allegations and claims have emerged from different sides, the crucial evidence will come from CCTV footage, forensic findings, witness statements, postmortem results and the police investigation.
The final circumstances surrounding both deaths will ultimately have to be established through due process.
