Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case: Fresh Post-Mortem Claims Raise New Questions

The death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput has once again returned to the spotlight following new claims attributed to a member of the team involved in his post-mortem examination. The statements were reportedly recorded during a sting operation conducted by Republic TV and have revived discussion around the circumstances surrounding the actor's death.

The claims are particularly significant because they concern alleged observations made during the post-mortem process. However, these statements should be treated as allegations and not as established conclusions unless they are independently verified through official investigation or judicial proceedings.

New Claims About Sushant Singh Rajput's Injuries

According to the report, Rupesh Kumar Shah, who was associated with the post-mortem process, made several claims about Sushant's body during the alleged sting operation.

Shah reportedly said that he noticed a serious injury around the actor's jaw. According to his account, he believed the injury appeared inconsistent with something a person would normally cause to himself and suggested that it may have resulted from a forceful blow.

Another claim concerned the marks reportedly observed around Sushant's neck. Shah allegedly stated that there were several marks rather than what he described as a single mark associated with hanging.

These statements have attracted attention because questions about the nature of the injuries have been part of the wider public debate surrounding Sushant's death since 2020.

Alleged Claims About a Stun Gun

The report also attributes another startling claim to the post-mortem staff member.

According to the account, Shah allegedly said that marks were visible on the left side of Sushant's neck which he associated with the use of a stun gun. He reportedly described multiple marks and claimed that the injuries were several millimetres deep.

However, the report also says that Shah acknowledged that the observations he described were not included in the official post-mortem report.

That distinction is important. Statements made years later about what someone remembers seeing during a medical examination are not, by themselves, equivalent to documented forensic findings.

Claims About Pressure Following the Post-Mortem

The reported sting operation also contains allegations concerning what happened to the post-mortem staff after the examination.

Shah allegedly claimed that he and others faced pressure after carrying out the examination and that he was kept in custody for around 15 days. He further alleged that he was subjected to physical abuse during that period.

The report attributes particularly serious allegations to him involving police personnel. These are claims made by the individual in the reported sting operation and have not been established as facts merely because they were broadcast.

Why the Case Continues to Attract Attention

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14, 2020. His death triggered intense public attention, multiple theories and investigations by different agencies.

Earlier forensic and investigative findings had pointed toward suicide rather than homicide. In 2025, the Central Bureau of Investigation filed closure reports stating that its investigation had not found evidence establishing foul play in his death.

The earlier post-mortem findings also reported asphyxia due to hanging and stated that no external injuries or signs of struggle had been identified apart from the ligature mark.

An AIIMS forensic assessment reported in 2020 also ruled out the murder theory, while questions from members of Sushant's family and their representatives continued to keep the issue in public discussion.

Disha Salian Case Adds to the Current Attention

The renewed discussion is also taking place against the backdrop of developments involving Disha Salian, Sushant's former manager.

The Bombay High Court recently directed the CBI to investigate Salian's death after concerns were raised about the manner and duration of the earlier police investigation. The court's order does not establish that Salian was murdered or prove a connection between her death and Sushant's death.

The two deaths occurred within days of each other in June 2020, which has contributed to years of speculation. Investigators, however, have previously examined the cases and the CBI's closure report concerning Sushant's death concluded that there was no evidence of foul play.

What Happens Next?

The latest claims are likely to generate renewed public interest, but their legal and investigative significance will depend on whether authorities independently verify them and whether any supporting medical or forensic evidence emerges.

For now, the allegations from the reported sting operation should not be confused with an official finding that Sushant Singh Rajput was murdered. Existing investigative and forensic findings have previously reached a different conclusion.

As authorities continue to deal with the broader questions surrounding the deaths of Sushant Singh Rajput and Disha Salian, any fresh evidence will ultimately have to be examined through formal investigative and judicial processes.
