Pawan Kalyan Visits Thriprayar Sree Rama Temple in Kerala, Takes Part in Traditional Rituals

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan visited the famous Thriprayar Sree Ramaswami Temple in Kerala on Friday, September 11, and participated in several traditional temple rituals. His visit has drawn attention among both his political supporters and Telugu cinema audiences.

Pawan Kalyan is currently in Kerala, where he is undergoing Ayurvedic treatment. During his stay, he visited the renowned Thriprayar Sree Ramaswami Temple in Thrissur district, a prominent Lord Rama shrine associated with Kerala's religious traditions.

The actor-politician spent time at the temple and took part in various services conducted according to its established customs.

Pawan Kalyan Participates in Deepaaradhana

One of the highlights of Pawan Kalyan's temple visit was his participation in the evening Deepaaradhana service.

According to the report, he made a contribution for the day's Deepaaradhana and personally lit lamps as part of the ritual. He also took part in lighting the principal lamps installed near the temple's main entrance, opposite the shrine associated with Lord Krishna.

The evening ritual formed an important part of his visit as he followed the traditional practices observed at the temple rather than limiting his visit to a customary darshan.

Special Pujas and Offerings at the Temple

Pawan Kalyan also offered prayers at several shrines within the temple complex.

After seeking the blessings of Lord Rama, he participated in evening worship and offered silk garments to the deities of Lord Krishna, Lord Ayyappa and Lord Rama. He subsequently performed special prayers at other shrines located within the temple premises, including Dakshinamurthy, Ganesha and Anantha Padmanabha.

The chief priest, known as the Mel Shanti, performed the rituals and later presented Pawan Kalyan with teertha prasadam and blessings. Temple authorities and representatives associated with the Devaswom administration welcomed him according to the customary temple protocol.

What Is Special About Thriprayar Temple?

Thriprayar Sree Ramaswami Temple is among Kerala's well-known temples dedicated to Lord Rama. It is also an important destination associated with the traditional Nalambalam pilgrimage, which links four prominent Rama-related temples in Kerala.

The temple is located in Thrissur district and is known for its distinctive religious customs and festivals. Kerala Tourism describes the shrine as one of the state's popular Lord Rama temples, with major festivals including Pooram Purappadu and Uthram Vilakku, along with Vrischika Ekadasi.

The temple's traditions also include rituals that may be unfamiliar to devotees from other parts of India, making the shrine particularly interesting from a cultural and spiritual perspective.

Pawan Kalyan Takes Part in Meenuttu

Before the main darshan, Pawan Kalyan also visited the Lord Krishna shrine within the temple complex and participated in Meenuttu, a traditional practice involving feeding fish.

The temple is situated close to a river, and feeding fish forms part of the religious customs associated with the shrine. Devotees traditionally view the practice as an offering connected with Lord Vishnu's Matsya form.

His participation in the ritual was another notable aspect of the visit.

He Also Contributes to Vedi Vazhipadu

Pawan Kalyan additionally participated in a ritual known as Vedi Vazhipadu, which involves the ceremonial use of fireworks.

The tradition has a mythological association with the Ramayana. Local temple tradition connects the sound of fireworks with the story of Hanuman communicating the news of Sita's discovery to Lord Rama.

As part of his participation, Pawan Kalyan reportedly contributed the amount required for 1,001 crackers for the ritual. He later visited the shrine of Lord Ayyappa, who is worshipped here as Sree Shasta, and received the temple's sacred offerings.

Pawan Kalyan's visit comes while he is staying in Kerala for Ayurvedic treatment. The combination of his public profile as a major Telugu film personality and his current political position has naturally made his temple appearance noteworthy among Telugu audiences.

For fans, the visit also offered a glimpse of the actor-politician participating in Kerala's distinctive temple traditions. Rather than being a brief public appearance, his schedule at Thriprayar included several rituals, offerings and prayers conducted according to the customs of the shrine.

The Religious Significance Behind the Shrine

According to temple traditions cited in the report, the idol of Lord Rama at Thriprayar is believed to have been worshipped by Lord Krishna during the Dwapara Yuga. Another traditional account says that idols of Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna reached the Kerala coast after the submergence of Dwarka.

These traditions contribute to the temple's long-standing religious importance and help explain why Thriprayar remains an important pilgrimage destination in Kerala.
