Hyderabad’s Ganesh immersion celebrations reached their grand finale on September 25, with the iconic Khairatabad Ganesh procession drawing thousands of devotees. The Balapur Ganesh laddu auction also became a major highlight, fetching ₹39 lakh this year.
Khairatabad Ganesh immersion completed
Hyderabad witnessed the grand Ganesh immersion celebrations on September 25, 2026. The famous Khairatabad Mahaganapathi, which attracted devotees throughout the festival, was taken in a massive procession towards Hussain Sagar.
The 69-foot-tall Panchamukha Sankatahara Mahaganapathi began its journey from the Khairatabad area in the morning. After several hours of procession, the idol reached the immersion point at NTR Marg, where the immersion was completed using a long-boom crane at Crane No. 4.
Thousands of devotees gathered along the procession route to witness the final moments of the festival. The atmosphere around Hussain Sagar remained packed with people, traditional music and devotional chants.
Balapur Ganesh laddu auction attracts huge attention
The Balapur Ganesh laddu auction once again became one of the biggest attractions of Hyderabad’s Ganesh celebrations.
This year, Sama Praneeth Reddy bought the Balapur Ganesh laddu for ₹39 lakh. The amount was ₹4 lakh higher than the previous year's ₹35 lakh bid, marking a new high for the Balapur auction.
The auction also had an interesting change this year, with companies participating alongside individual bidders. Reports said nine applicants took part, including five companies. The growing participation shows how the Balapur laddu auction has expanded beyond a purely individual religious tradition and has also acquired a significant community and social dimension.
Why is the Balapur laddu so popular?
The Balapur laddu has developed a special place in Hyderabad's Ganesh festival traditions. Devotees associate the prasadam with prosperity and good fortune, making the annual auction a highly anticipated event.

Traffic management was another major challenge because large numbers of devotees and vehicles converged towards the immersion routes. Police and civic authorities prepared diversions and security arrangements to handle the movement of processions.
