Hyderabad: A four-storey building in the Gachibowli area has become a cause for concern after the structure reportedly tilted sharply to one side, triggering fear among residents in the surrounding locality.
The incident was reported in Gopanpally's NTR Nagar, within the Gachibowli division. According to local reports, the building was constructed on a relatively small plot measuring around 30–40 square yards and is now visibly leaning to one side. Local residents have expressed concern that the structure could pose a danger if its condition deteriorates further.
Officials have reportedly been informed and are expected to inspect the structure and assess the level of risk.
Why Does a Multi-Storey Building Tilt?
A building normally remains stable because its foundation, columns, beams and other structural components work together to transfer the weight safely into the ground.
A noticeable tilt can occur for several reasons, including:
- Weak or inadequate foundation design
- Uneven settlement of the soil
- Construction on unsuitable or unstable ground

HYDRAA chief A.V. Ranganath has also recently highlighted the risks associated with unauthorised construction and referred to both the recent Gachibowli collapse and an earlier building-tilting incident in Siddiq Nagar while discussing urban safety concerns.
These incidents have increased attention on how rapidly growing neighbourhoods manage construction permissions, structural safety and enforcement.

For a building showing a significant tilt, a technical assessment could involve checking:
