Foxconn Expects Strong Third Quarter as AI Demand Drives Growth

Taiwanese electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn expects its business performance in the third quarter of 2026 to come in ahead of market expectations, supported by continued strength in demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure and the seasonal pickup in technology products.

The company, formally known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, said its visibility into the July-September period has improved compared with the previous month. While Foxconn does not provide specific numerical forecasts, management indicated that the combination of rising AI demand and the traditional second-half peak season should give operations greater momentum.

AI infrastructure remains a major growth engine

Foxconn has become one of the key manufacturing partners supporting the global expansion of AI infrastructure. The company produces server systems and other technology hardware for major customers, including Nvidia, while also remaining a significant supplier to Apple.

The growing investment by cloud service providers in AI computing capacity has translated into stronger demand for Foxconn's cloud and networking business. The company expects this segment to record substantial growth during the third quarter.

AI server racks are particularly important to the outlook. Foxconn has been expanding its capabilities in this area as technology companies increase spending on data centres and high-performance computing infrastructure.

The company has previously indicated that AI server rack shipments could grow at a high double-digit rate during the third quarter compared with the preceding quarter. It also expects AI rack shipments for the full year to more than double.

Foxconn's broader AI strategy goes beyond assembling individual components. The company has been positioning itself as an end-to-end manufacturing and technology partner capable of integrating complete AI server systems.

Strong second-quarter performance provides momentum

The upbeat third-quarter outlook follows a strong second quarter for Foxconn.

For the April-June period, the company reported revenue of around NT$2.53 trillion, representing a 41% increase from the same period a year earlier. Net profit attributable to shareholders reached approximately NT$60 billion, up 35% year on year.

Operating profit also increased sharply, while revenue, operating profit and net profit all reached records for the second quarter.

The results highlighted the growing contribution from AI-related infrastructure. Cloud and networking products, which include AI servers, have become an increasingly important part of Foxconn's overall business.

The company's first-half results were similarly strong. Revenue for the January-June period rose 35% year on year to about NT$4.65 trillion, while operating profit increased 65%. Net profit climbed 27% to approximately NT$109.9 billion.

August revenue reaches another milestone

Foxconn's latest monthly revenue figures have added further support to its positive outlook.

Revenue in August climbed 51.98% from a year earlier to NT$921.8 billion. The figure marked the company's highest-ever August revenue and represented the second consecutive month in which monthly revenue exceeded NT$900 billion.

The performance demonstrates how strong demand for AI-related hardware is being accompanied by seasonal demand for information and communication technology products.

Foxconn had already reported record monthly revenue in July, when sales surpassed NT$900 billion for the first time. The continued strength in monthly sales suggests that the company entered the third quarter with considerable operating momentum.

Consumer electronics also enter peak season

Although AI servers are increasingly central to Foxconn's growth story, traditional consumer electronics remain an important contributor.

The second half of the year is normally a stronger period for consumer technology products, including smartphones and other electronic devices. Foxconn expects its smart consumer electronics business to benefit from this seasonal pattern during the third quarter.

The combination of AI infrastructure demand and stronger consumer electronics activity could therefore provide support across multiple parts of the company's business rather than leaving growth dependent on a single product category.

Geopolitical risks remain a concern

Despite its optimistic assessment, Foxconn has warned that the global environment remains uncertain.

The company said investors and businesses should continue to watch developments in the international political and economic landscape. Foxconn did not provide detailed comments on specific risks, but its global manufacturing footprint means that geopolitical developments, trade policies and changes in supply chains can affect its operations.

The company operates manufacturing and technology facilities across numerous countries and is continuing to expand capacity in markets including the United States, Mexico and Vietnam.

In the US, Foxconn has been developing additional research and manufacturing capabilities, including in Texas, Wisconsin, Ohio and California. The expansion is aimed in part at supporting growing demand for localized production.

Investors focus on AI-driven earnings potential

Foxconn's stronger outlook underscores the wider impact of the global AI investment cycle on technology manufacturers.

As cloud companies, AI developers and other customers continue building computing infrastructure, suppliers involved in servers, networking equipment and related components are seeing new opportunities for growth.

Foxconn's ability to combine large-scale manufacturing with increasingly sophisticated AI hardware production has helped it benefit from this trend.

The company now enters the remainder of the third quarter with improving visibility, strong recent revenue figures and continued demand for AI infrastructure. However, management's warning over global political and economic volatility means the company remains cautious about risks outside its direct control.

For investors, the key question will be whether the current AI spending cycle can continue translating into sustained growth in Foxconn's server business while seasonal consumer electronics demand provides an additional boost.

For now, the company expects the September quarter to outperform market expectations, giving another indication of how rapidly AI-related hardware has become an important driver of its overall business.
