Bethlehem Kudumba Unit Heads to Tamil and Telugu Audiences After Strong Malayalam Run

Malayalam cinema’s recent success story Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is now preparing to reach audiences outside Kerala. The Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju-starrer will arrive in theatres in dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions on September 4, following a successful theatrical opening in Malayalam.

Directed by Gireesh AD and produced by Bhavana Studios, the film first reached cinemas on August 21. It has since gained a positive response from audiences and built a strong box-office record in India. According to figures cited by NDTV from Sacnilk, the movie has earned approximately Rs 117.75 crore in gross collections in India, while its estimated India net stands at around Rs 100.85 crore. The final theatrical figures are yet to be determined as the film continues its run.

Tamil and Telugu Release on September 4

With its Malayalam theatrical journey continuing successfully, the makers are now taking Bethlehem Kudumba Unit to Tamil- and Telugu-speaking markets. Both dubbed versions are scheduled to release on September 4.

The Telugu release is also generating attention ahead of its theatrical arrival. A post shared by the Telugu distributor mentioned that additional early-morning shows had been added in Hyderabad, reflecting the interest surrounding the film's entry into the Telugu market. The film is scheduled for a wider release across the Telugu states through Mythri Movie Distributors.

The Tamil version will also be available in cinemas on the same date. Promotional material for the dubbed release has highlighted Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju as the principal cast members, with the Tamil Nadu release being handled by Primark Productions.

What Is the Film About?

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is positioned as a feel-good romantic drama that combines romance with the experiences of people living within a neighbourhood.

The story follows a young woman who moves into a new neighbourhood in the city. After settling into her new surroundings, she becomes interested in an older man who lives nearby. This relationship forms the central romantic element of the film.

The technical crew includes Vishnu Vijay, who has composed the film's music. Ajmal Sabu is responsible for cinematography, while Akash Joseph Varghese has handled the editing.

The combination of a prominent Malayalam cast and the film's feel-good romantic positioning has helped it connect with its initial audience. Its box-office performance has now created an opportunity for the movie to find viewers in two additional major South Indian language markets.

OTT Release Plans

For viewers who may not watch Bethlehem Kudumba Unit during its theatrical run, a digital release is also reportedly planned.

The movie is expected to make its streaming debut on JioHotstar after its theatrical journey concludes. However, an official OTT streaming date has not yet been announced.

For now, the focus remains on the September 4 theatrical expansion. With the Malayalam version having already crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in estimated India net collections and continuing its theatrical run, the Tamil and Telugu releases give Bethlehem Kudumba Unit another opportunity to extend its reach.

The September 4 release will therefore be an important next step for the film as it moves beyond its original Malayalam audience and attempts to recreate its positive theatrical momentum in new language markets.
