Vishal Urges Tamil Nadu CM Vijay to Act Against YouTubers Targeting Actors

Tamil actor Vishal has spoken out about the recent arrest of Udhayanidhi Stalin, using the controversy to raise a broader concern about the kind of content being circulated about film personalities on YouTube and social media.

Vishal made the remarks while attending an event connected with the promotions of his upcoming film Magudam. During the interaction, he discussed developments in Tamil Nadu politics as well as the arrest of Udhayanidhi, a longtime acquaintance and college senior to him.

Vishal Questions Double Standards

Udhayanidhi Stalin was recently arrested in connection with allegations surrounding comments made about actor Trisha Krishnan. According to reports, he was released on bail on the same day. The incident has triggered political and public debate in Tamil Nadu.

Vishal said the episode made him think about another issue affecting people in the film industry. He pointed to YouTube channels and online creators who, according to him, make offensive or personal remarks about actors and actresses while generating income from such content.

The actor appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to take action against individuals who cross the line while discussing people from the entertainment industry. His concern, as expressed at the event, was that online platforms should not become spaces where people can make degrading statements about film personalities without facing consequences.

Vishal Stands by His Friendship With Udhayanidhi

Despite the political developments surrounding Udhayanidhi, Vishal made it clear that his personal relationship with the DMK leader remains unchanged.

Vishal said he shares a close friendship with Udhayanidhi and his wife, Kiruthiga. He also recalled that there had been a past occasion when he spoke angrily about Udhayanidhi's production company because of an unpleasant experience related to a film. However, he clarified that the episode did not reflect any lasting personal hostility toward Udhayanidhi.

The actor described Udhayanidhi positively and stressed that their friendship would continue regardless of political circumstances. Vishal also said that even if he eventually entered politics himself, he did not expect political differences to turn into a personal dispute between the two.

Earlier Comments on Udhayanidhi's Arrest

This is not the first time Vishal has discussed the controversy. In an earlier interaction during the Magudam promotions, he reflected on how political careers can transform relationships and situations that once seemed unimaginable.

Vishal recalled his days at Loyola College in Chennai, where Vijay was his senior and Udhayanidhi was his batchmate. He said he could never have imagined that the two people he knew from college would eventually find themselves on opposite sides of a political contest, with one serving as Chief Minister and the other becoming a political opponent.

He also observed that public figures, particularly politicians, need to exercise caution when speaking at public gatherings. In his view, comments made spontaneously at political events can sometimes lead to disputes and legal complications that were not anticipated.

Vishal suggested that political leaders should prepare their speeches carefully instead of relying entirely on spontaneous remarks. He acknowledged that freedom of expression is important but said that public figures should remain conscious of sensitive subjects and avoid crossing boundaries.

Focus Shifts to Online Celebrity Commentary

Vishal's latest comments broadened the conversation beyond the immediate political controversy. Rather than limiting his response to Udhayanidhi's arrest, he highlighted what he considers a persistent problem in the digital entertainment ecosystem.

Celebrities frequently become subjects of speculation, criticism and personal commentary online. Vishal argued that content creators who make particularly offensive statements about actors should also face scrutiny.

His appeal to Vijay therefore places the issue within the larger debate over accountability on digital platforms. The actor's comments suggest that public figures should not be subjected to personal attacks simply because such material can attract views, attention or advertising revenue.
