The Congress has now issued a strong warning to Vijay’s government. Rajesh Kumar, a Congress minister holding the Tourism portfolio in the Tamil Nadu government, reportedly said that his party could reconsider its position in the cabinet if TVK refuses to support Rahul Gandhi for the Prime Minister’s post.

The Congress position, as reported, is that Rahul Gandhi should be backed as the Prime Ministerial candidate for 2029. The party has indicated that continued participation in the state government would become difficult if TVK simultaneously promotes Vijay as its preferred choice for the country’s top political office.

Vijay has not publicly announced himself as a Prime Ministerial aspirant, according to the report.
