The upcoming mythological epic Ramayana has encountered its first major controversy months before its theatrical release, with a prominent Ramlila organization urging the filmmakers to arrange a special preview screening for its representatives. According to reports, the Shri Ramlila Mahasangh has formally written to the film's makers, asking that a delegation from the organization be allowed to watch the movie before it reaches audiences worldwide. The group says the purpose of the screening is to ensure that the story, characters, and dialogues remain respectful of the cultural and religious significance of the Ramayana.

The organization has expressed concerns that certain scenes could unintentionally offend religious sentiments if historical and traditional interpretations are not presented with sufficient care. Leaders of the Mahasangh have warned that if their request is ignored, they may organize demonstrations outside cinemas in Delhi and other parts of the country once the film is released.
