Commercial LPG Prices Cut From August 1; Petrol and Diesel Rates Stay Unchanged

Commercial LPG users across India received welcome relief on August 1 after oil marketing companies announced a significant reduction in the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders. The latest revision is expected to lower operating costs for businesses such as restaurants, hotels, catering services, and small food establishments that rely heavily on commercial cooking gas.

The reduction applies only to commercial LPG cylinders. There has been no change in the price of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders used by households, meaning regular consumers will continue to pay the existing rates.

Many consumers also hoped that lower global crude oil prices would lead to a reduction in petrol and diesel prices. However, there has been no revision in retail fuel rates as of August 1. Petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged across the country, with daily retail prices continuing to be influenced by multiple factors, including international crude oil trends, exchange rates, transportation costs, and taxes imposed by both the Centre and state governments.

The latest cut in commercial LPG prices is expected to provide financial relief to businesses that consume large quantities of fuel every day. Lower fuel expenses could help reduce operating costs for food service providers and other commercial users, although any direct benefit to consumers will depend on individual businesses and market conditions.

While commercial users have benefited from the latest revision, domestic LPG customers and vehicle owners will have to wait for any future announcements regarding cooking gas and transport fuel prices. For now, petrol and diesel rates remain stable, and only commercial LPG cylinders have become cheaper from the beginning of August.
