Kannappa Makers Issue Legal Warning to Trolls Ahead of Release
As the mythological epic Kannappa, starring Vishnu Manchu, gears up for its theatrical release on June 27, 2025, the film's production team has taken a firm stand against online trolling and defamatory content. In an official statement, the makers emphasized their commitment to protecting the film's integrity and the reputations of its stakeholders.
The public caution notice, shared on the film's official social media channels, warns against the spread of negativity, misrepresentation, or defamatory content related to the film. The statement underscores that any malicious actions aimed at tarnishing the image of the project will not be taken lightly and may invite legal consequences.
The notice further highlights that while freedom of speech is a fundamental right under Article 19(1)(a) of the Indian Constitution, it does not protect intentional and destructive attacks on creative works. The makers reserve the right to take appropriate legal action against such actions.
Additionally, the Delhi High Court has granted protection to the personality and publicity rights of key stakeholders, including Dr. Mohan Babu and Vishnu Manchu. Any unauthorized use or dissemination of content that misappropriates or defames them may invite legal consequences under the court's direction and applicable laws.
Kannappa features a star-studded cast, with Vishnu Manchu in the titular role, alongside Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, and Madhoo. The film also boasts cameo appearances by Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva, Mohanlal as Kirata, Prabhas as Rudra, and Kajal Aggarwal as Goddess Parvati. The film is set to release nationwide on June 27.
The production team's proactive approach serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible discourse in the digital age, especially concerning creative works that hold cultural and religious significance.
