Kajal Aggarwal Joins Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana' as Mandodari

In a significant development for Indian cinema, acclaimed actress Kajal Aggarwal has been cast as Mandodari, the wife of Ravana, in director Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious adaptation of the epic 'Ramayana'. This casting decision places her alongside a stellar ensemble, including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash portraying Ravana.

The film, envisioned as a two-part saga, is produced by Namit Malhotra of Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with Yash's Monster Mind Creations. Scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release, the first installment promises a grand retelling of the ancient epic, with the second part anticipated in 2027.

Kajal's portrayal of Mandodari is particularly noteworthy. Mandodari, a character known for her wisdom and moral compass, plays a pivotal role in the narrative, often serving as a voice of reason against Ravana's decisions. Kajal's inclusion brings a blend of grace and gravitas to this complex role, marking her first collaboration with Yash.

The film's ensemble cast further includes Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Arun Govil as King Dashrath. With a reported budget of ₹835 crore, 'Ramayana' is poised to be one of the most expensive Indian films to date, aiming to deliver a visually spectacular and emotionally resonant experience.

As production progresses, audiences eagerly await this cinematic rendition of a timeless tale, reimagined through the lens of modern filmmaking.
